NEWPLAN was the consultant for Uganda Ministry of Works and Transport in the  Design and Construction Supervision of the Katuna One Stop Border Post (OSBP), incorporating the Feasibility Study, Geotechnical Investigations, Socio-economic surveys, Environmental Impact Assessment to aide the Architectural and Engineering Design.

Some project facts:

• The project was geared towards improvement of trade facilitation in East Africa in line with East African Trade and Transport Facilitation component funded by the International Development Association of the World Bank.
• The facilities were designed to meet future growth in the projection of 20 years.
• The project site presented constraints of poor ground conditions and difficult hilly terrain which therefore called for a design that responds adequately to these factors.

NEWPLAN was the Design Review and Construction Supervision consultant for Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD Uganda) in the implementation of a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) subsequent to acquisition of 29 sq km of land in Kabaale Parish, Buseruka Sub County, Hoima District, for the development of a crude oil refinery and attendant infrastructure.

Some project facts:

The RAP involves the following works for the Project Affected Persons (PAPs) in the areas where they are being resettled:

• the construction of 46 resettlement houses, two new Primary Schools, two new churches,
• renovation of two existing Health Centers and one existing Primary School
• construction of Access Roads and Boreholes .

NEWPLAN was consultant to  UGA Ltd for design of the masterplan for a mixed use development situated on a 7 acre parcel of land in the heart of Pallisa Town in Pallisa District, Eastern Uganda.

Some project facts:

• The design for the Master Plan was required to provide facilities to meet a variety of commercial and hospitality needs of the targeted community. 
• The Master Plan will be a phased developed in response to identified needs as Pallisa Town develops over the years.

NEWPLAN (as NORPLAN Uganda at the time) was the consultant to implement the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) to Tronder Power Ltd (initially, SN Power). 

Some project facts:

• Rights to develop the Hydropower Project were transferred in 2007 to Tronder Power Ltd after the withdrawal of SN Power from the Project. Tronder Power Limited (TPL) took on the project and retained NORPLAN Uganda (now NEWPLAN), as consultant to implement the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the Project.
• As part of the RAP,it involved Architectural & Engineering Designs and Construction Supervision for 34 Resettlement Houses and Health Infrastructure.
• The design was earthquake resistant with international standards applied in the design of the structure and labour based technologies were used in the construction.
